Free profit & loss calculator for traders
Know your exact potential profit or loss before clicking buy or sell. This calculator accounts for entry price, exit price, position size, spread, and commissions to give you the true P&L of any trade.
How to use this calculator
Step 1: Enter your entry price and exit price. Step 2: Enter your position size. Step 3: Add any commissions or spread costs. The calculator shows your net profit or loss.
P&L Calculator
Stock example: Buy 100 shares at $50, sell at $55. Gross P&L = 100 × $5 = $500. Commission $10 round trip. Net P&L = $490
Forex example: Long 1 lot EUR/USD at 1.1000, close at 1.1080. P&L = 80 pips × $10 = $800. Spread cost 1 pip = $10. Swap -$5. Net P&L = $785
Crypto example: Buy 0.5 BTC at $60,000, sell at $63,000. P&L = 0.5 × $3,000 = $1,500. Fee 0.1% × 2 = $123. Net P&L = $1,377
Why pre-trade P&L calculation matters
Many traders focus on gross profit and forget about transaction costs. In forex, a 2-pip spread on every trade adds up to hundreds of dollars per month for active traders. In crypto, exchange fees of 0.1-0.5% per trade can significantly reduce returns on frequent trading.
Hidden costs to include
Spread: The difference between bid and ask. Commissions: Broker fees per trade. Swap/overnight financing: Cost of holding leveraged positions overnight. Currency conversion: If your trade profit is in a different currency than your account. Slippage: The difference between expected and actual execution price.
AskTrade’s research reports include realistic P&L projections for every trade setup.
